ABOUT ME

My name is Charlotte Watts and I am a 17 year old high school senior. As a freshman I thought I would hate taking a class called Creative Writing 1 but boy was I wrong. I liked writing so much I decided to continue the Creative Writing courses into my senior year in which I am currently taking the final class. This is my portfolio for that final course. I was given the choice of what to focus my portfolio on so I chose a mix between personal essays and poems.

It's been a long time coming but I finally finished my portfolio. Along with it came a lot of stress and self doubt but from it I found myself creatively as a writer. I'm almost 100% positive my style of writing will most definitely change over and over again. But as of 5/30/2017 at 5:01 PM this is who I am, who I have written myself to be. I took some risks in topics I never thought I would write about such as high school fantasized love and channeled my mental health into my poems as a form of therapy. I tried my hand in screenplay which in my opinion worked out pretty well. I also attempted, emphasis on attempted, pop art which although fun and very therapeutic I'm not sure I'll be painting any Mona Lisa's anytime soon. I took inspiration from the recently popular feminist writer Rupi Kaur, and the highly-respected (in my book at least) David Sedaris. From the beginning of the semester I was personally able to witness my writing mature and I am beyond proud of the content I put into this portfolio.
